Cefquino-LC

Each 8 g syringe contains:

• Cefquinome 75 mg (as cefquinome sulphate)
• Excipients: White soft paraffin, Liquid paraffin

For the treatment of mastitis in cattle.

Pharmacodynamics
Cefquinome is a bactericidal antibiotic belonging to the fourth-generation cephalosporins. It has a broad spectrum and high efficacy against pathogens causing mastitis, such as Streptococcus uberis, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli.

Pharmacokinetics
After administration into the udder, the average concentration in milk is 19 mcg/ml after 12 hours. The MIC90 value (minimum inhibitory concentration required to kill 90% of pathogens) for Staphylococcus aureus is about 1 mcg/ml. Following the last administration, the concentration is 2.5 mcg/ml in the second milking and 0.75 mcg/ml in the third milking. No systemic absorption of cefquinome from the udder has been reported.

Milk the affected quarter. After cleaning and sanitizing the udder, administer one syringe into each affected quarter every 12 hours. Massage the udder to ensure even distribution of the product.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

• Meat and offal: 4 days
• Milk: 5 days (120 hours)

When using Cefquino-LC in combination with Cefquino, the withdrawal periods are:

• Meat and offal: 5 days
• Milk: 5 days (120 hours)

Do not use in animals hypersensitive to cephalosporins. Cross-resistance with penicillins may occur.

Rarely, anaphylactic shock may occur (1 in 10,000 cases).

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
This product is safe for use during lactation and does not harm reproductive cattle.
