Ectomec Pour-on

Each 1 ml of solution contains:

• Ivermectin: 5 mg
• Solvent (Liquid Paraffin): q.s. 1 ml

Treats gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, warble fly larvae, mites, lice, and fleas.

Ivermectin is a semi-synthetic derivative of the avermectin group, a class of macrocyclic lactones isolated from the fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis. It is effective against various types of worms, such as roundworms, pinworms, hookworms, and microfilariae larvae. However, it has minimal effect on adult filarial worms and no effect on tapeworms or liver flukes.

The drug works directly by paralyzing the worms, rendering them immobile and facilitating the elimination of larvae via the lymphatic system. Ivermectin stimulates the release of the neurotransmitter GABA in sensitive worms, enhancing GABA activity at the neuromuscular synapses and causing paralysis. It is effective against many types of parasites, especially those migrating into internal organs like the skin, eyes, liver, central nervous system, lungs, skeletal muscles, and even the heart.

After application, the plasma concentration reaches approximately 12–16 ng/ml within 36–144 hours; Tmax = 3.7 days; Cmax = 16.89 ng/ml. By the 6th day, the concentration gradually decreases and falls below 2 ng/ml after 28 days. The elimination half-life is about 6.4 days. The highest drug residues are found in the liver and fat, while the lowest are in muscles. Ivermectin is excreted through feces via bile.

Apply along the animal's back at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg body weight.

• Cattle and buffalo: Apply from the shoulder hump to the sacrum.
• Goats and sheep: Apply to the area between the horns.
• Dogs and cats: Part the hair along the back to expose the skin and apply directly to the skin.
• Pigs: Apply from the shoulders to the base of the tail.

Notes:
Do not treat animals with wet fur, wet skin, or scabby skin, as it may reduce the drug's effectiveness. Apply against the direction of the hair.

OVERDOSE:
Using up to three times the recommended dose does not show signs of toxicity.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

• For meat: 3 weeks.

Mild irritation may occasionally occur at the application site but resolves quickly after treatment.

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
The product can be used during pregnancy and lactation. It does not affect the reproductive capacity of males or females and is safe for animals of all ages.
