Ingredient

In 1 ml of solution contains:

  • Fluconazole: 15 mg
  • Solvent: q.s. to 1 ml
Uses

Treatment of fungal infections in dogs, cats, and birds, such as systemic fungal infections, dermatophytosis, and fungal infections of the nervous and urinary systems.

Pharmacological properties

Fluconazole is a novel antifungal drug from the triazole group, strongly and specifically inhibiting fungal sterol synthesis. Its spectrum of activity includes Candida, Cryptococcus, Histoplasma, Blastomyces, and Aspergillus spp.

Fluconazole is rapidly and efficiently absorbed after oral administration (>90%). It binds minimally to plasma proteins (~11%), is widely distributed throughout the body, and penetrates cerebrospinal fluid, bronchial mucosal fluid, the eyes, and the peritoneum.

In dogs: Following an oral dose of 10 mg/kg body weight:

  • Cmax: 10 µg/ml
  • Tmax: 4 hours

More than 70% of the dose is excreted unchanged, achieving high concentrations in urine.

Fluconazole is excreted in milk and should not be used during lactation. In humans, the plasma half-life in individuals with normal renal function is 30 hours.

Usage

Administer orally as follows:

  • Dogs: 1 ml per 2–4 kg body weight once daily for 8 weeks.
  • Cats: 1 ml per 1–4 kg body weight twice daily for 3 weeks.
  • Chickens, ducks, quails, ornamental birds: 1 ml per 2–3 kg body weight once daily for 7–14 days.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

  • For meat consumption: 7 days.
Recommendations

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

  • Co-administration of fluconazole and rifampin may alter the pharmacokinetics of both drugs (increased metabolism of fluconazole).
  • Fluconazole increases serum theophylline levels by approximately 13%, which may lead to toxicity. Monitor theophylline levels carefully.
  • Fluconazole absorption is not affected by reduced stomach acidity, so it can be used with acid suppressants.
  • Co-administration with Amphotericin B has a synergistic effect against Candida but may have antagonistic effects when treating Aspergillus.

USE DURING PREGNANCY:
Not recommended for pregnant animals due to the potential for teratogenicity and genetic mutations.

Contraindications
  • Do not use in animals with a history of allergy to fluconazole.
  • Not recommended for animals during recovery, pregnancy, or those with renal impairment.

Precautions:
Use cautiously in pets with liver disease or renal dysfunction.

Side effects

Loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.

Expiry date

2 years from the manufacturing date.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place at temperatures below 30°C. Avoid direct sunlight.
