Ceftifur

In 1 ml of suspension contains:

• Ceftiofur HCl …………….………. 50 mg
• Solvent and distilled water up to …..… 1 ml
  (Includes 1.5 mg Sorbitol monooleate, Distilled water, Medium chain triglycerides)

Used to treat respiratory diseases in cattle, buffalo, and pigs, such as pneumonia, pleuropneumonia, polyserositis, streptococcosis, and pasteurellosis.
Also indicated for treating:

• Uterine infections in dairy cows (within 0–10 days postpartum).
• Hoof infections.
• Bladder infections.

• Ceftiofur is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
  In pigs: Ceftiofur is effective against pathogens such as:
• Gram-positive bacteria: Clostridium perfringens, Cl. difficile, Streptococcus suis, Staphylococcus hyicus, and Erysipelothrix rusiopathiae.
  
• Gram-negative bacteria: E. coli, Salmonella spp., Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Mannheimia haemolytica, and Fusobacterium necrophorum.

In cattle and buffalo: Effective against:

• Gram-positive bacteria: Clostridium perfringens, Streptococcus agalactiae, S. uberis, and Staphylococcus aureus.
  
• Gram-negative bacteria: E. coli, Salmonella spp., A. pleuropneumoniae, P. multocida, M. haemolytica, and F. necrophorum.

After intramuscular injection in pigs at a dose of 3 mg/kg body weight:

Cmax: 12 µg/ml
Tmax: 1–4 hours
Half-life in plasma: 17 hours

• Cattle and buffalo: Administer subcutaneously at 1 ml per 50 kg body weight per day (1.1–2.2 mg Ceftiofur/kg body weight) for 3–5 consecutive days.
• Pigs: Administer intramuscularly at 1 ml per 16 kg body weight per day for 3 consecutive days.

Note: Shake well before use.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

For meat consumption:

• Cattle and buffalo: 8 days.
• Pigs: 5 days.

For milk extraction: 0 days.

Do not use concurrently with bacteriostatic antibiotics such as Tetracyclines, Macrolides, Lincosamides, or Chloramphenicol.

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
Laboratory studies show no evidence of adverse effects on reproductive systems (e.g., teratogenicity or abortion). However, the safety of Ceftiofur in pregnant pigs and cattle has not been thoroughly studied.

Do not use in animals with a history of hypersensitivity to ceftiofur or other β-lactam antibiotics. Do not administer intravenously.

Mild inflammation may occur at the injection site in cattle.

Product: 24 months.

Once opened: Use within 30 days after the first dose.

Store in a dry, cool place at ≤ 30°C. Avoid direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
