Spec-Lin

In 1 ml of solution:

• Spectinomycin Hydrochloride ………. 100 mg
• Lincomycin HCl …………………….. 50 mg
• Solvent to volume …………………… 1 ml

For the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to Lincomycin and Spectinomycin in pigs, calves, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, and poultry.

• Pigs: Swine dysentery, enzootic pneumonia, arthritis, erysipelas, diarrhea caused by E. coli.
• Calves: Pneumonia, diarrhea.
• Goats and sheep: Foot rot.
• Poultry: CRD, E. coli infections, salmonellosis, arthritis, septicemia, navel infections.

Lincomycin: A bacteriostatic antibiotic primarily effective against Gram-positive bacteria and Mycoplasma, with no effect on Gram-negative enterococci. Lincomycin distributes widely into most tissues, achieving therapeutic concentrations in bones, bile, synovial fluid, peritoneal fluid, skin, and cardiac muscle. In cases of meningitis, its cerebrospinal fluid concentration is about 40% of plasma concentration. It binds extensively to plasma proteins (57–72%), crosses the placenta, and is excreted into milk at concentrations close to those in plasma. Lincomycin is metabolized in the liver and primarily excreted in feces in both unchanged and metabolized forms. Its half-life in small animals is approximately 3–4 hours.

Spectinomycin: A bacteriostatic or bactericidal antibiotic (depending on dosage) with a broad spectrum, effective against Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and Mycoplasma bacteria. Spectinomycin is well absorbed after injection, with tissue concentrations lower than plasma concentrations. It does not penetrate cerebrospinal fluid and does not bind to plasma proteins. It is excreted in urine in its unchanged form.

Target spectrum of Spec-Lin: Mycoplasma galisepticum, Mycoplasma spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella multocida, E. coli, Serpulina hyodysenteriae.

• After intramuscular injection in dogs (15 mg spectinomycin + 7.5 mg lincomycin), Cmax = 42.5 µg/ml (Spec.) and 4.5 µg/ml (Lin.), Tmax = 1 hour.

Administer via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection (for poultry and turkeys):

• Cattle and buffalo: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight for 4 consecutive days.
• Pigs, calves, goats, sheep: 1 ml per 10 kg body weight (15 mg active ingredients) for 3 consecutive days.
• Piglets, dogs, cats: 1 ml per 5 kg body weight (30 mg active ingredients) for 3–5 consecutive days.
• Poultry, turkeys: 1 ml per 5 kg body weight (30 mg active ingredients) for 3 consecutive days.

OVERDOSAGE:

• In pigs, doses higher than the recommended may cause diarrhea.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

• For meat consumption: 14 days.
• For milk extraction: 2 days.
• Not for use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

• Antagonistic with Lincomycin, Erythromycin, and Florfenicol.

USE DURING PREGNANCY:

• Use cautiously in pregnant or lactating animals, as it may cause digestive disturbances in neonates.

• Do not use in animals hypersensitive to Spectinomycin or Lincomycin.
• Not for use in rabbits, horses, or ruminants.

Mild diarrhea in cats and reduced appetite in dogs.
