ClaMOXCIN ClaMOXCIN
Ingredient

Each 1 ml of suspension contains:

  • Amoxicillin trihydrate: 140 mg
  • Clavulanic acid (as Potassium clavulanate): 35 mg
  • Diluent: q.s. to 1 ml

Uses
  • Cattle and buffalo: Treatment of respiratory infections, soft tissue infections, mastitis, and metritis.
  • Pigs: Treatment of respiratory infections (pleuropneumonia, polyserositis, pasteurellosis, streptococcal infections, etc.), E. coli infections, and MMA syndrome.
  • Dogs and cats: Treatment of respiratory, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections.
Pharmacological properties

The product's antibacterial spectrum includes:

  • Gram-positive pathogens: Staphylococci (including beta-lactamase-producing strains), Streptococci, Corynebacterium, Clostridia.
  • Gram-negative pathogens: E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Bacteroides (including beta-lactamase-producing strains), Pasteurella spp., Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Campylobacter spp.

After intramuscular injection in cattle at the recommended dose:

For Amoxicillin:

  • Cmax: 1.69 µg/ml
  • Tmax: 2.67 hours
  • t½: 15.22 hours

For Clavulanic acid:

  • Cmax: 0.94 µg/ml
  • Tmax: 1.30 hours
  • t½: 1.71 hours

Clavulanic acid and amoxicillin are excreted into milk at low concentrations. Clavulanic acid binds to plasma proteins at approximately 13% and undergoes extensive metabolism (in dogs and cats). It is unclear whether these metabolites retain beta-lactamase inhibitory effects. Clavulanic acid is also excreted unchanged via glomerular filtration.

Usage

Shake well before use.

Dosage for cattle, buffalo, pigs, dogs, and cats:

  • 1 ml per 20 kg body weight (equivalent to 7.0 mg amoxicillin + 1.75 mg clavulanic acid/kg body weight) once daily for 3–5 days.
  • For dogs and cats: Administer subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
  • For pigs, cattle, and buffalo: Administer intramuscularly.

OVERDOSE:
The product has very low toxicity and is well tolerated when administered at 2x the recommended dose for 5 days.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

  • Milk extraction: 60 hours.
  • Meat consumption:

Cattle and buffalo: 42 days.

Pigs: 31 days.

Recommendations

The bactericidal effect of amoxicillin is nullified when used concurrently with bacteriostatic antibiotics such as macrolides, tetracyclines, and sulfonamides.

USE DURING PREGNANCY:
Safe for use in pregnant animals.

PRECAUTIONS:
Clavulanic acid is highly sensitive to moisture. Use a dry syringe when withdrawing the product.

Contraindications

Do not use in rabbits or guinea pigs.

Use with caution in small herbivores.

Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to the product’s components.

Side effects

Occasionally, pain or localized reactions may occur at the injection site.

Expiry date

2 years from the manufacturing date. Once opened, use within 28 days after the first withdrawal.

Storage

Store at temperatures below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
