Diclodol

Each 1 ml of solution contains:

• Diclofenac sodium: 25 mg
• Paracetamol: 50 mg
• Solvent: q.s. to 1 ml

Indicated for the treatment of acute pain and inflammation, such as muscle pain, post-surgical pain, and trauma.

• Paracetamol: Exhibits analgesic and antipyretic effects by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes during prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandins are responsible for fever, inflammation, and pain in the body. Paracetamol is rapidly absorbed, with peak plasma concentration reached within 30 to 60 minutes after oral administration at therapeutic doses. It is quickly and evenly distributed throughout most body tissues, with approximately 25% of the circulating paracetamol bound to plasma proteins. It is metabolized in the liver via the cytochrome P450 pathway to form N-acetyl benzoquinonimine, an intermediate compound that is further conjugated with glutathione’s sulfhydryl group to form an inactive compound. The drug is primarily excreted in the urine in its metabolized form, with a half-life of approximately 2.5 hours.
• Diclofenac: A phenylacetic acid derivative and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It has strong anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects. Diclofenac is rapidly absorbed and highly bound to plasma proteins, with effects appearing 20–30 minutes after intramuscular injection. The plasma half-life is approximately 1–2 hours. Around 60% of the administered dose is excreted via the kidneys as active metabolites, with less than 1% excreted unchanged. The remainder is excreted in bile and feces. Diclofenac is minimally excreted into breast milk.

Administer intramuscularly:

• Dogs and Sheep: 1 ml per 15 kg body weight.
• Large livestock: 1 ml per 15 kg body weight. Administer continuously for 3–4 days or until symptoms resolve.
• Note: Do not exceed the recommended dose.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

• For meat consumption: 4 days.
• For milk extraction: 2 days.

• Diclofenac and other NSAIDs may enhance the central nervous system side effects of quinolone antibiotics, potentially causing seizures (requires further research).
• Aspirin or glucocorticoids can reduce plasma diclofenac levels while increasing the risk and severity of gastrointestinal damage.

USE DURING PREGNANCY:

• Not recommended for pregnant animals.
• Use during the late stages of pregnancy poses risks of uterine contraction inhibition and premature closure of the ductus arteriosus, potentially leading to irreversible pulmonary hypertension and renal failure in the fetus.
• Avoid using any drugs that inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, including diclofenac, during early pregnancy to prevent implantation inhibition.

Not for use in cats and horses.

Not suitable for animals with severe liver or kidney failure.
