Mectin

Per 1 ml of solution contains:

• Ivermectin ………………. 10 mg
• Diluent qs ………………. 1 ml

Treats internal and external parasites in buffalo, cattle, and pigs, such as lungworms, roundworms, kidney worms, heartworms, mites, and ticks.

Ivermectin acts directly by paralyzing worms, immobilizing, and eliminating larvae through the lymphatic system. It stimulates the release of the neurotransmitter GABA in sensitive worms, enhancing GABA release at postsynaptic neuromuscular junctions, causing paralysis in worms.

Ivermectin inactivates many types of parasites, particularly larvae migrating into internal organs such as skin, eyes, liver, central nervous system, lungs, skeletal muscles, and even the heart.

Regardless of the administration method (pour-on, oral, injection), Ivermectin is absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed throughout the host’s body (including tissues and fluids). It tends to accumulate in the liver and fat, from where it is gradually released and metabolized.

• In cattle and sheep: Subcutaneous absorption depends on the excipient (oil-based solvents absorb slower and persist longer in the organ but have lower peak blood concentrations compared to water-based solvents). Oral administration absorbs faster with higher peak plasma concentrations but has a shorter duration of action compared to injection.
• In dogs and cats: Absorption after injection is faster than in ruminants.
• In sheep and goats: Food can reduce oral bioavailability. Plasma concentrations in free-grazing sheep are lower than in penned sheep. Ivermectin and its metabolites adhere tightly to stomach contents.

Regardless of administration route, over 90% of the Ivermectin dose is excreted via bile and feces, and only 2% is eliminated through urine. About 45% of the dose is excreted in its original form, and the rest as metabolites. Excretion in goats is slower than in sheep (11 days vs. 4–5 days post-injection). Approximately 5% of the dose is excreted into the milk of lactating animals, with residues detectable up to 18 days.

Subcutaneous injection only.

Pigs:

• For preventing mites and roundworms: 1 ml per 32 kg body weight, administered every 2 months.
• For sows: Inject 2 weeks before farrowing.
• For treating mites: 1 ml per 28 kg body weight, administered once per week for 3 weeks.

Buffalo and cattle:

• For prevention: 1 ml per 48 kg body weight, administered every 3 months.
• For treating mites: 1 ml per 40 kg body weight, administered once per week for 3 weeks.

OVERDOSAGE:
Symptoms of overdose include loss of coordination and weakness. There is no specific antidote, so treatment is symptomatic. No signs of toxicity were observed at doses up to 3 times the recommended amount.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

• For meat: 42 days.

No reported interactions.

• Hypersensitivity to Ivermectin, including high-risk breeds like Collie dogs.
• Do not inject intramuscularly or intravenously.
• Not for use in dairy cattle during lactation.

Occasionally, mild swelling may occur at the injection site.
