Chymosin

Each 1 ml of solution contains:

• Alfachymotrypsin: 8 mg
• Trypsin: 2 mg
• Hyaluronic acid: 0.1 mcg
• Solvent (qs): 1 ml

For combined treatment of inflammation and soft tissue swelling (caused by trauma, surgery, or infectious diseases) in cattle, buffalo, horses, pigs, dogs, and poultry.

Chymotrypsin and trypsin are protein-hydrolyzing enzymes extracted from bovine pancreas. Trypsin breaks down large protein molecules by cleaving the protein chain at specific sites. These large protein molecules are actually chains of hundreds of smaller molecular units called amino acids. Trypsin acts at points on the protein chain containing lysine and arginine, two small amino acids. Chymotrypsin cleaves protein chains at different points than trypsin, targeting larger amino acids like phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan.

The action of hydrolyzing enzymes depends on macrophages. Additionally, these enzymes reduce inflammation by eliminating immune complexes that cause fibrin accumulation in tissues, which delays healing. The fibrin-degrading activity of the enzymes improves microcirculation in inflamed tissues. Improved microcirculation and reduced accumulation of immune complexes result from the enzyme activity, which clears inflammatory components and promotes healing.

Hydrolyzing enzymes remove molecules adhering to cells, restricting the movement of activated immune cells to affected tissues. After intramuscular injection, while some hydrolyzing enzymes are eliminated by binding to non-hydrolyzed macromolecules, more than 80% bind to peptides and integrate into normal protein metabolism.

Chymosin locally degrades fibrin structures in subacute or chronic inflammation, reduces inflammation and soft tissue swelling caused by abscesses, ulcers, or trauma, and loosens respiratory secretions in conditions like asthma, bronchitis, lung disease, and sinusitis. It also treats infections, necrotic tissue, and delays in wound healing post-surgery, absorbs hematomas, reduces trauma-induced swelling, and supports the treatment of infectious diseases.

Administer intramuscularly or locally. Repeat after 12-24 hours if necessary.

• Standard dose:

Alfachymotrypsin: 0.1–0.25 mg/kg body weight

Trypsin: 0.025–0.060 mg/kg body weight

• Dosage guidelines:

Cattle, buffalo, and horses: 2.5–6.25 ml/100 kg body weight

Dogs and pigs: 0.25–0.62 ml/10 kg body weight

Poultry: 1 ml/10–15 kg body weight

OVERDOSE:
No evidence of enzyme overdose in animals.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
Not required.

Protein-hydrolyzing enzymes have mild anticoagulant effects; do not use concurrently with other anticoagulant drugs.

Do not use in animals with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug components.

No documented side effects.

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
Studies indicate the drug does not cause birth defects or affect fertility.
