Loximol

Each 1 ml of solution contains:

• Meloxicam: 10 mg
• Solvent: q.s. to 1 ml

Relieves symptoms of acute respiratory disease, diarrhea (in animals older than one week), and supports the treatment of acute mastitis when combined with antibiotic therapy. It also treats inflammation from non-infectious musculoskeletal disorders, supports sepsis treatment, and reduces acute and chronic inflammation and pain in muscles and ligaments in cattle, buffalo, horses, and pigs.

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from the oxicam group. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiplatelet, and antipyretic properties, though its antipyretic effect is mild. Meloxicam is primarily used for pain relief and anti-inflammatory purposes. It is considered safer and more effective than other NSAIDs. Its effects are due to the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, which mediates inflammation.

• In cattle, after a dose of 0.5 mg meloxicam/kg body weight, the maximum concentration (Cmax) is 2.1 µg/ml, with a time to peak concentration (Tmax) of 7.7 hours. Over 98% of meloxicam binds to plasma proteins. The highest concentrations are found in the liver and kidneys, while bone and fat tissues show very low levels. Meloxicam is primarily excreted through bile and milk in cattle, with minimal excretion in urine.
• In pigs, only small amounts of the parent drug are excreted in bile and urine. Meloxicam is metabolized into alcohol, acid derivatives, and other metabolites, most of which lack pharmacological activity. The half-life in cattle is 26 hours, and in pigs, the half-life after intramuscular injection is 2.5 hours.

Cattle and buffalo: Single subcutaneous injection: 2.5 ml/100 kg body weight.

Pigs: Single intramuscular injection: 2 ml/100 kg body weight. Repeat after 24 hours if necessary.

Horses: Single intravenous injection: 3 ml/100 kg body weight.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

Cattle and buffalo:

• Meat and by-products: 15 days.
• Milk: 120 hours.

Pigs and horses:

• Meat and by-products: 5 days.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

• Do not administer concurrently with glucocorticosteroids, other NSAIDs, or anticoagulants.
• Exercise caution when used with highly protein-bound drugs.

USE DURING PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:

• Safety in pregnant sows has not been fully evaluated. Current data suggest no adverse effects during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
• The drug can be used in lactating sows.
• Do not use in pregnant or lactating mares.

• Do not use in horses younger than 6 weeks old.
• Do not use in animals with gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, heart dysfunction, or kidney dysfunction.

When administered intravenously or subcutaneously, the drug is well-tolerated. Mild swelling may occur at the injection site in approximately 10% of treated cases.
